Let's talk about wellness.
Today I'm sharing some of my tried-and-trusted tips on how I embrace aging - as a woman who is committed to feeling and looking my best.
As we get older, the effects on the body and skin can be significant. As the body experiences new phases of life, our skin gets thinner due to the loss of estrogen and bone density can decrease. Your quality of sleep can be impacted (more restlessness, less deep sleep), and some women may experience hair loss or thinning.
Here are a few of my best practices that truly help me feel a real difference in my body, my energy, my sleep and my skin:
Skincare:
I'm always doing some kind of innovative skin mask combination. I love being in the treatment rooms with our incredible skin therapists at Gee Beauty. We can really talk advanced skincare, technologies, and regimens. Right now I'm excited about the incredible new Mimi Luzon products in Toronto as well as my forever favorites from Dr. Sebagh, Dr. Barbara Sturm and Agent Nateur.
We road-test everything ourselves. It's got to be something we love and has benefit.

Sleep:
I love my routine in the evening. It starts with my dinner, which is usually finished at 7pm. After dinner, I have been getting in the habit of taking a 15-minute walk outside or on the treadmill in order to best absorb the day. This mini workout really makes me feel great.
Next, I love doing two 5-minute practices: placing my legs up on the wall and praying simultaneously followed by 5 minutes of stretching. I keep my timer on and that helps me accomplish what I know really helps me, while moving me along to the next set of routines.
Some nights I like to stretch while listening to the the calming sounds of rain and thunder. It’s so peaceful in my head and feels so cozy. If I'm feeling like I need more calmness, I'll take Agent Nateur's Calm (Beauty) which works so beautifully and has incredible ingredients for radiant skin, healthy hair, restorative sleep, stable calm, and reduced inflammation.
I truly have seen the difference of doing this practice of not taking my day to bed with me.

Next, I love love love my bathroom routine, which, of course, starts with taking a bath. I intentionally make it as peaceful as possible with my mind and body, by how I prepare the bath, set out my PJ’s and so on. Afterwards I always spray my bed with a scent of choice. And yes, I sleep on a silk pillow case.
For evening supplements, I take magnesium, and Sleep by Arrae. Is a nightly must. I also keep a huge glass of water on my night stand.
About a year ago, I invested in an Oura Ring which has given me so much data on my quality of sleep. Not only that but it tracks my steps and shows me how my sleep from the night before will impact my day. Based on the data it tracks, I try to improve from the day before in areas I need to.
Movement:
Speaking of steps, you know no day is complete without achieving 10k steps. I'm on my feet a lot and like to move around, so I generally need only an additional 30-40 minute walk on the treadmill or outside to reach my goal. I'll often multi-task and listen to a podcast while on the treadmill.
I've also been spending lots of time with Steph's dog Ginger. I love taking her on walks and watching her play at the park.
I also love doing Rachel Fitness workouts at home. They are only 30 minutes so they're really efficient and Rachel is an incredible leader and motivator. Plus the community she's built is so warm and welcoming.
To really get moving, I love the rebounder (mini trampoline). I bring it into my living in the colder months and I jump for about 5-10 minutes and it really energizes me, invigorates my lymphatic system, and just gives me a boost. I love it before a workout as a warm-up.

Start Today!Food:
My food and commitment to a great meal plan is very important to me. I've always been a healthy eater, but now I really take the time to read ingredients and understand how foods make me feel. I want to bring in energy, not consume foods that zap it. I love proteins with vegetables, fruits, healthy grains and fats, with the occasional piece of dark chocolate. I've always watched my sugar intake and don't really eat too many processed foods.
I'm known within our family for my soups. I make them from whatever is in my fridge. They're so comforting this time of year and are so quick and easy.
My commitment to this type of lifestyle really shows in the glow in my skin.

Creativity:
I've always been very visual and my eye is drawn to beauty. This could be anything - an inspiring image, a great outfit, a kind and giving person or a beautiful view. I love to plan my outfits each day. It's such a fun and expressive creative output for me. I'm also always looking to learn and stay very curious. I think this can contribute to a youthful energy because I'm always open to expanding and trying new things. Right now I'm planning some new recipes reading the Leonard Lauder biography and I'm also working on showing you more of my fashion + beauty looks on my Instagram.
