Mel Robbins’ “LET THEM” theory has been circulating in our Gee Beauty community for the past several weeks and we now consider ourselves completely tapped in.
So we’re joining the movement and happily embracing this subtle yet extremely powerful shift in mindset.
What is the LET THEM theory? According to Mel, its about freedom.
These simple words can free us from the burden of trying to manage other people and their expectations, and trying to control any situation which really we don’t have control over. Pretty liberating, right?
Inspired by this (pretty much fan-girling), we thought we’d have a little fun with the LET THEM theory in terms of our daily beauty rituals, our makeup routines and just exactly how much (actually how little) time we spend doing our makeup each day. So while we may not be spending tons of time each day on ourselves, we can show up for ourselves by using products that bring out the very best in us, especially ones that truly deliver, turn heads in the best possible way, and have everyone asking us what’s giving us that gorgeous glow. LET THEM!
As a brand our mission and vision is to meet you where you are. Wit that being said, its not about being like anyone else, or looking a certain way. Its about you, and emphasizng your uniqueness and attributes.
When you set yourself free of other’s expectations and put this theory into play, the same way you do apply your makeup, the only person you should be focused on is you. That means, not looking around at every trend and letting it dictate how you should look. Staying true to you, and what you can do to enhance you the most. Being where we are and embracing it. Feeling like you’re in you’re in your prime where you are at now. That's the beauty in it for us. So while some other’s might be chasing a fleeting trend, a certain idealized age, or an unsustainable trend - LET THEM.
LET ME embrace where I’m at, feeling inspired by what works for me.

The Gee Guide To Staying PresentTwenty years ago, the conversation around women building their own businesses and female entrepreneurs wasn’t as common as it is today. When people questioned me starting Gee Beauty in my 50s with my daughters — my response? LET THEM.

Normalizing zero judgment and 100% encouragement. This theory has completely revolutionized how we should let and allow everyone to be who they are because in turn we deserve to have it all however it looks, however we define it. If someone doesn’t like you or what you’re doing, let them! Just keep going!

"I love how liberating this phrase can be. It’s a little micro-moment or little reminder in the day to let go of trying to perfectly control a situation or someone’s reaction. And let me simply try to do my best. Let me let go of ideas of where I should be at this point in my life or how it supposed to look, and embrace the beauty of where I’m at because it’s my journey and story, no one else’s. And honestly what is more beautiful, confident and sexy than showing up as your real self. That is the ultimate confidence booster!" - Celene
"The Let Me Theory is my version of comparison is the thief of joy. It helps me feel freer of ideas like what 'I should be' doing in comparison to others and allow me to think, 'good for them'! Ultimately the idea is to focus on what's best for you, at your own pace, and be happy for people for where they are, in no comparison to you." - Steph
The Let Them Theory is simple and powerful and the mindset shift is empowering.
Remember, Let Them do what they want, and you do what’s best for you!
